What Can YOU Do?

  • Make sure everyone on the park staff understands the above information. Sometimes just hearing a little bit of background can change everything

  • Be empathetic – understand WHY there’s been a lack of exposure to outdoor experiences for most Black folks and what the effects of that are.

  • Be a teacher – Many Black folks need to learn about the outdoors, but not be spoken down to.

  • Talk about this new information with your park team – explore these topics together and with other park visitors.

  • Invite a Black friend to visit your park and hike, camp out, or attend an event.

  • Create a campfire conversation at your park and invite EVERYONE.
